Met-Flow
A Strategy for Single-Cell Metabolic Analysis

For Professionals in Research
A complex interaction of anabolic and catabolic metabolism underpins the ability of leukocytes to mount an immune response. Their capacity to respond to changing environments by metabolic reprogramming is crucial to effector function. However, current methods lack the ability to interrogate this network of metabolic pathways at the single-cell level within a heterogeneous population. Using Met-Flow, a flow cytometry–based method, the metabolic state of immune cells can be captured by targeting key proteins and rate-limiting enzymes across multiple pathways.
New technologies for measuring divergent metabolic profiles
New technologies including antibody panels, flow cytometers and advanced data-analysis tools have been developed to simultaneously measure divergent metabolic profiles and dynamic remodeling in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells.
BD Biosciences hosted a webinar with Dr. John Connolly, a world-renowned immunologist and flow cytometry expert
Key topics covered in this webinar include:
- How staining and analysis of metabolic and cell surface proteins can be made simultaneously at the single-cell level
- How a novel high-parameter flow cytometry method utilizing antibodies against metabolic proteins that are critical and rate-limiting in their representative pathways can shed light onto the metabolic state of any given cell type
- How various advanced data-analysis tools can be utilized to derive unique correlations between immune subpopulations and specific metabolic pathways
